Product Used: System-K™
System-K™concrete was placed directly out of the concrete mixer truck on the base material. Due to the elimination of rebar from the floor slab, the concrete did not need to be pumped into place. The absence of the steel also made it easy for the laser screed and ready mix trucks to maneuver around the placement area.
Floor segments were placed with construction joint spacing of 130-ft. After final finishing of the System-K™concrete, 7-days of water curing was applied. Excellent floor flatness and levelness numbers were attained, averaging FF of 98.6 and FL of 61.0 five weeks after concrete placement. A smooth trowel finish was achieved with no visible evidence of fibers on the finished surface.
A CTS Cement Manufacturing Corporation engineer examined the slab 8 weeks after placement and found the floor to be crack free. Using System-K™ concrete resulted in a net savings of $21,963.
